Pacific National Group

Pacific National Group 150x47 without tag line Pacific National Group (“PNG”) has been around since the 1950’s and I am the 4th generation of management. Our success and growth has come by the simple application of a couple of tools, that being hard work, some planning and a splash of luck. In the late 1990s, we began to look for additional tools to add to our success. We were most interested in finding management processes to help control our growing employee base and additional offices.

To begin our search, I attended a management conference and was excited and enthused about all the content presented. However, within a few days of attending, I had no idea of how to accomplish the structure and culture that I had been exposed to. I was left feeling as if I had missed something important. To add to my frustration, I had no contact or specific individual to talk through my problems with.

My next step was to hire a consultant, a big accounting and consulting company known worldwide. This company was successful in helping me accomplish some important steps in setting a management and company culture. However, the expense was excessive and the consultant was not set up to provide long term support. They simply showed up for a month and then disappeared.

Early in 2004, I heard from a few business friends that MAP offered an interesting process and that I should check it out. I did some homework, talked to people who had been through the course and then made contact with a MAP representative to sign up for the management seminar. As with most businesses, changes and uncontrollable interruptions kept me from attending. For three years, I postponed my commitment to attend.

On a Wednesday morning in August 2007, I walked into a MAP classroom for what became one of the best business decisions I have ever made. Indeed, I did come into the class with some skepticism and a need to see the proof because, after all, I had been searching for over a decade for a complete process and have been disappointed from my previous experiences.

My class was full of successful executives and up and coming junior executives. It was not long before I became impressed by the material. By lunch the first day I knew I was going to learn some important applications for my business. However, my biggest concern was implementation. This was addressed after lunch on the second day as we talked about what I needed for my business, in particular, and how MAP could offer assistance. My workshop leader explained the follow-through process and support MAP provides. We talked about training of my managers, review of company organization and availability to support PNG for as much or as little as we wanted.

I can say honestly that MAP has proved to be the complete package. Since that three day class in August 2007, PNG has sent all it's executives to the same class, and have had MAP for Managers classes for the project management staff and other office staff.

The changes in our business are small but clarity, organization and performance have risen dramatically. Our people have accepted the new challenges and, for the most part, embraced the process. We have improved many of our corporate procedures and have created a corporate culture conducive to success.

Our executive team’s assessment of MAP is that the process has exceeded our expectations and met all of our goals. Our MAP senior consultant is still working with us, to this day, to redefine our goals and help our people stay the course.

I believe the ultimate recommendation is that of utilizing the same process in other businesses. The success of MAP at PNG has led to the implementation of MAP at two other associated companies.

As of January 2009, the economic challenges for our country are ominous. However, PNG believes that we are prepared to meet the challenges the next few years will bring. Much of our readiness to face these challenges is attributed to the controls that were developed and refined with the help of MAP.

My deepest thanks to MAP because we will enjoy and cherish our future successes even more than those of the past. MAP has given PNG the tools and foresight to take the direction we choose. We wholeheartedly recommend MAP to all who are interested in a management process to guide their businesses to greater success.
